A study published in the BMJ on 8th April 2011 reports that one in 10 male cancers and one in 33 female cancers can be attributed to former and current alcohol consumption in eight European countries.
The study, which looked at cancer trends and drinking patterns in France, Italy, Spain, UK, Netherlands, Greece, Germany and Denmark, also reported that in 2008 13,000 new cases of cancer in the UK were alcohol-related.
