Balance North East has launched a new hard hitting health campaign warning against the cancer causing effects of alcohol.
Launched at the start of Alcohol Awareness Week 2013 (18 – 24 November) 2013, the advertising campaign aims to raise awareness of the links between alcohol and cancer.
Drinkers are warned that alcohol is in the same cancer causing category as tobacco smoke and asbestos (Group 1) and that “the more you drink, and the more often you drink, the more you increase your risk of developing cancer”.
Alcohol is responsible for around 12,500 cases of cancer each year in the UK.
It will be shown on Tyne Tees TV for the next four weeks and is also available to view online (YouTube link).
