Editorial – July 2016

Welcome to the July 2016 edition of Alcohol Alert, the Institute of Alcohol Studies newsletter, covering the latest updates on UK alcohol policy matters.

In this month's issue, researchers question whether alcohol makes us happier, while another claims that there is "strong evidence" from the existing literature that alcohol causes cancer. Other articles include: Austria to introduce alcohol interlocks; Commission leaves door open for health NGOs to rejoin the European Alcohol and Health Forum; peers quiz think-tank on the successes of the Licensing Act; and the Government announces its intention to "look at" 24-hour alcohol sales at the UK's airports.
